Finally mailed the signed contract for The Silver Rattle. I was able to eSign it so my publisher could get started, but they still wanted a legally signed live document. With a November 1 publishing date there's no time to spare. I also had to email the editor instructions and examples of cover art I like, a back cover blurb, a log line, a teaser scene, a website excerpt, keywords, a dedication, PR synopsis, a list of previous published book titles and an author's biography. Whew!
Speaking of my author bio, I looked back at my two Chick Lit books, CurvyKathy31 and For Richer or Repo, and it became abundantly apparent how much my life has changed in the last year. Two prime examples are the facts that my son no longer lives with us and I'm no longer employed by a national retailer. Oh well, life (and death) marches on.
Ordinarily all these little bits of information and copy wouldn't be that big of a deal. I write every day for websites all over the world without a second thought. But, with a real live book, I can't just go in and update the copy when I feel like it. It's there...forever. Scary!
To complicate things even more, The Silver Rattle is actually the first book I wrote, (it's so old I had to update the story line with cell phones,) although its the third one published. So I went with "debut novel in the horror genre."
To complicate things even further, I had to decide whether to use my real name or my pen name, Karyn Lyndon, for this genre. Finally I figured, hey, if it works for Nora Roberts with her J.D. Robb books, it works for me. But that meant a whole new domain name and website. So, as you can see, that's what I've been working on today.
Anyway, bottom line: welcome to KarenLynnTunnell.com (karentunnell.com was already taken by some artist...grrrr!)
